Something really old in my kitchen

Right, I thought I do something new, the old way.
I do not need to speak Latin, but I can pretend, I can now at least use a cooking tool which sounds impressive. Actually, I am lying. Although the thing that will go into my oven later on is called a Romertopf, or Roemertopf, or a “Roman pot” it is not. It is a German invention from the 60’s. I guess it has something to do with their Wirtschaftswunder. Anyway, this Römertopf is great for cooking meat.
Seriously, according to the manual, you do not need oil, butter, grease, lard or napalm to start frying. Makes it a lot more healthy, I guess. Well, my cholesterol is not critical, so I do not really need to care. In any case, I think this Roemertopf is a great idea. First: You have the whole meal in one pot without creating a stew. Also, the stuff in there is kept warm for quite a while and you can nip down to the off-licence to get some IRN-BRU to go with your mutton.

And before I fail to mention it: you can use this clay pot with the fancy name to bake bread and cake in! Works like a charm, I have to say. But pay attention: Do not put the hot pot on a cold surface, something nasty could happen…
